But what happens when we do all that we are supposed to do and we stilldon’t get what we ask for?
There are times when what we ask for is being held up. For many different reasons. In Daniel 10, we learn that Daniel was seeking understanding of a vision. He was weak, had not ate or drank wine, nor had he anointed himself with oil until the time had come to pass. In verses 12 and 13, an angel informs Daniel that he has heard him from the first day that he set out for understanding but because he [the angel] had been left alone, he was not able to get to Daniel for 21 days. He was held up.
Is it possible that our dreams, those things that we are seeking in our lives, are being held up by forces unbeknownst to us? Quite possibly, we may have to deal with a little more pain, struggle a little more, seek further understanding, learn a deeper lesson. Maybe what it is we want has a better outcome if we don’t get it right away.
Take myinjury situation for instance: I had been trying to transfer from Atlanta to Charleston with my job for a few months. I placed calls, had managers call people they knew, had my father checking out the scene here. Had all kinds of people on the j-o-b trying to see what was taking my transfer so long to come through. But it came through at its appointed time. Now, if I had transferred when I was ready, I might not have injured myself when I did. I’m sure some of you are wondering why I’m happy about injuring myself. Well, like I said, if my transfer had’ve happened before its time, my life would be very different right now. More than likely, I would still be stuck working a job I hated and I would not have been out on Worker’s Comp for the last 19 months. I would not have been able to go to school free of charge [to do something that I was willing to pay to do] while still getting paid.
If I had quit my job while waiting in the wings for all of my paperwork to be straightened out, I would have lost out on all the blessings God had in store for me.
I prayed. Asked. Seeked. Knocked. Yet nothing was happening.
At least not in my realm of vision.
It was all happening beyond my control.
My prayers were being held up while God was putting in the work.
I hurt myself in April, a month after my transfer, and I stopped working in October. Through all of the pain, the denying of my compensation claim, I neverstopped praying. 1 Thes 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”
Had I given up because nothing was happening, had I lost my faith, had I doubted, there is no telling where I would be right now.
Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Just because your blessing has not come to pass does not mean that it won’t. What you want, need, and desire is YOURS for the asking. Trust, the outcome will be better than you imagined.
Blessings & Prosperity!
