Blues Notes

We Are One

My trip to the U.S. and British Virgin Islands was awesome.  I had a great time with great people.  Took tons of pictures which I will share in a blog to come.  I wanted to get something off my mind while it is fresh.

While on my trip, I shut my phone off a) because my cell phone provider charged international rates, and b) because I wanted to fully disconnect from my everyday world.  I had hoped upon returning I’d have some great news from my literary agent.  Alas, when I cut my phone back on at Miami International Airport, I had no emails or voicemails from agent.  *insert frown*  I was slightly bummed, especially after doing quite a bit of writing on the beach, balcony, and in my head.  But I tried not to let it get me down too much.

Last night before going to bed, I prayed over each publisher who had requested my work.  Two pubs I knew off the top of my thoughts, but one I could not remember for the breath in my lungs.  I even flipped through the pictures in my phone in hopes it would draw a memory.  No such luck.

A little after one this afternoon, I received an email from my agent that included a rejection from *drum roll* the publisher I could not remember last night.  They liked my writing a lot and even found my unusual background to be fascinating.  In the end, however, they did not feel my submitted novel was a fit for them.

I titled this post We Are One because in a way I feel as though my spirit and my conscience were one last night.  I could not remember the publisher’s name.  Therefore, I had no attachment to them.  No attachment to the outcome.  In a way, my spirit was preparing me for the email today.

I am okay because I realize more and more everyday in life’s journies that God knows what’s best.
